饮料食品饮料、奶制品以及食品的生产环节当中多数都需要进行冷却，例如在饮料的生产工艺当中需要将液体温度降低以便加入CO2；在乳制品的生产工艺当中，经过巴氏灭菌后也需要对乳品进行快速冷却；葡萄酒、酱油等生产工艺；在面粉“和面”工艺中需要加入冷冻水防止“和面”产生的热量升高面团的温度，从而降低了产成品的口感。上述这些应用当中，对于冷源温度的要求一般不是很低，通常都在0℃以上，但是由于食品生产基本上都是长时间连续生产，所以要求设备具备很高的可靠性、智能化程度、快速冷却的能力。
